The oldest father in the world
Ramjit Raghav is one proud dad. At the age of 94, he has just celebrated the birth of his first child – making him possibly the world's oldest father. Mr Raghav, from Haryana in northern India, has hailed the arrival of his first child, a son named Karamjit, as 'God's gift'. And he and his wife Shakuntala Devi, believed to be in her early fifties, hope to go one further by trying for a second child next year. Mr Raghav, who was a wrestler in his youth, is confident that he will be around to see his little boy grow up, saying: 'I will die only if a black snake bites me and that is very unlikely. 'Visit me after ten years and you will find me in the same appearance. 'My daily diet comprises three litres of milk, half a kilo of almonds and half a kilo of ghee [clarified butter].' But some doctors have questioned the validity of Mr Raghav's claim.
Dr Paramjeet Singh, chief medical officer at Kharkhoda Civil Hospital, where the baby was born in November, said: 'Having babies at such an age is a remote possibility. It can't be ruled out.' If it is true, Mr Raghav will beat current record holder Nanu Ram Jogi, an Indian farmer who fathered his 21st child at the age of 90 in 2007. Mr Raghav actually claims to be more than 100 years old, but pension records give his age as 94. Dr Singh added: 'It was a normal delivery and the baby is quite healthy and fine.' Shakuntala's age, alternately reported as 51, 52 and 54, makes for incredibly slim odds of ovulation and any viable eggs. Villager, Karan Singh, 39, was surprised to hear one of the elders had become a father last month. She said: 'At first I didn't believe it but it is the god's grace and most importantly Ramjit is quite healthy and hard-working.'

Ted Williams- Homeless man with a golden voice
The new year's first viral video star is Ted Williams, a homeless man from Ohio, whose amazing, radio-perfect voice has awed people from around the world. Williams was known for panhandling with a handmade sign announcing his "God-given gift of a voice." After hearing about him, The Columbus Dispatch paper stopped by one of his known panhandling haunts to record him saying voice-over phrases, like "coming up next!"
The bedraggled Williams' appearance only made his voice seem that much richer. Days later, millions have watched the video.
Now that Williams' voice has been heard, he's making appearances -- he was on Ohio radio this morning, and he'll be on NBC's "Today Show" on Thursday -- and the job prospects seem to be pouring in. Here are a few of the new possible opportunities for Williams.
- The Cleveland Cavaliers: A representative of the Cavs called into "The Morning Zoo" on WNCI, a local Ohio station, this morning to offer Williams a full-time voice-over job and a house.
- The NFL: No offer has been made yet, but a director of post-production from the NFL told The Columbus Dispatch, "My boss said to me: 'If you don't get him hired, you're fired.' ... I can't make any guarantees, but I'd love to get him some work."
- The Ohio Credit Union League: Also on WNCI this morning, Williams was offered a $10,000 opportunity to do voice-over work for the Ohio Credit Union League, pending a background check.
- MTV: Someone claiming to be from MTV called into "The Morning Zoo" to say that they'd love to work with Williams.
- ESPN: According to WNCI, ESPN has expressed interest in Williams, too.
- Radio: A Pennsylvania radio station is apparently interested in Williams.
- Giving back: The television station WBNS-TV wants to use Williams as a narrator for One Day To End Homelessness, a telethon planned for Jan. 31.

Socotra Island – The Most Bizzare Place on Earth
Socotra is a small Yemeni archipelago of four islands and islets in the Indian Ocean off the coast of the Horn of Africa, about 350 kilometers south of the Arabian peninsula. Socotra is one of the most isolated landforms on Earth of continental origin.
The archipelago features narrow coastal plains, a limestone plateau with caves, and mountains which rise to 1,525 meters above sea level.
Like the Galapagos Islands, this island is teeming with 700 extremely rare species of flora and fauna, a full
1/3 of which are endemic, i.e. found nowhere else on Earth.
Socotra is home to more than 800 species of plants, some 240 of which are endemic to the island, and there are certainly many more plant species that have yet to be discovered. The climate is harsh, hot and dry, and yet – the most amazing plant life thrives there.
A Dragon’s Blood Tree (Dracaena cinnabari) is seen in front of the Skund mountains on the island of Socotra, Yemen. The tree is so named because any injury to the bark results in a deep red liquid excreting from the scar – compared in the past to the “Blood of Dragons.
