Top 5 Flaws of 2012 Honda Civic

Honda Civic is one of the flagship cars rolled out from the house of the Japanese car maker Honda Motor Company. This car was first launched way back in 1972 in the form of a hatchback. This is one of the best selling cars in the developed markets such as United States and Canada. It has seen a huge success in the developing world such as Brazil and India as well. So many people have trusted Honda Civic so really the car does have some substance. So if you are planning to buy a Civic and trying to see what all features and benefits it has to offer, you should also have a look at all the potential negative aspects of the Honda Civic. This will help you make an informed decision before you take the plunge and buy this car.

During our review we found five major flaws in the successful Civic and we are sure that it will help you get a clear picture before you actually buy the car.

1. The top flaw is the 2012 redesign that has done a great job to kill the whole impression that Honda Civic managed to create in last few years. The redesign has been termed as ugly by many critics. The redesigned car is no more that eye candy cool car that you have a picture of in your mind.

2. Another major concern that many of the reviewers have noticed along with us is the acceleration issues. The car’s acceleration is not all that great. If this were just a one off things that we could have been okay with, it would have been okay. But acceleration is one of the most important aspects not only for the driving experience but also for the safety of the driver especially when you are driving on a highway.

3. The interior of the new Honda Civic is not something that many have liked so far. There are many other options that are much better in today’s scenario. The cars exterior has already been “changed” to say the least and on top of that the interiors are also not very commendable. The materials used inside could have been much better.

4. Price of the Honda Civic is also one of the pain areas. This is one of the highly priced cars in its segment. The price is mainly because of the brand value that it has created over the years. Because of the name Civic being sold even the insurance premium would be on the upward scale.

5. The car tends to be a tad noisy as well sometimes. Especially when you are on faster speeds you would feel the noise. This is very much noticeable and because of which it is an absolute deal breaker.

This article was to make you aware about some points that no other site would provide. Do consider all these poor aspects of the new Civic before you settle down for it.

Amazing Nano Dream: Small wonder or big blunder?

As Ratan Tata drove to the ramp what was perhaps the most-hyped four-wheeler of the year, excitement was palpable at the Auto Expo show in New Delhi. Christened Nano, and famously priced at Rs 1 lakh (about $2700), the car was unveiled on Wednesday to a thunderous applause. Designed for the mass market, the Nano has been hailed as the defining moment of the history of the Indian automobile industry and the one that will make possible a consumer revolution of sorts.

However, it has only a 624 cc petrol engine and can’t run effectively on the highways. Even the famed Rs 1-lakh tag is not really that. The car will cost the consumer close to Rs 1.2 lakh after all taxes have been levied. CNN-IBN show Face The Nation asked the question: Is Tata’s Rs 1-lakh car more of a marketing hype than real consumer value? On the panel to try and answer the question were Chairwoman VGC, Preeti Vyas Gianetti, Director CSE, Sunita Narian and editor, Autocar India, Hormazd Sorabjee.

Is Nano truly a people’s car?

Since the Nano is the next big thing and there has been huge media hype over the car, should an automobile be hyped in this way? Should it be given this much glamour given the costs of car in today’s times? Preeti Vyas Gianetti was of the opinion that if one had such story to tell then the punches shouldn’t be held back. She felt that the Tata Group had made an appropriate display of the kind of product they had come out with. “The hype matches with the promise made by the product and what is supposed to be serving in terms of consumer needs. The design of it is excellent and I would want to own a car, which looks so smart and sexy,” said Gianetti.

The critique is that the Nano and the new cars are imposing a huge social curb on society. The society is subsidising the car. The society is already paying for the cost so is another car not going to add to the coat of the car owner? Agreeing that the question asked was a valid one Gianetti however, said that the manufacturer was to be posed with the question or the government was to be asked the same question. “I think that it goes beyond a car and it is a much larger issue. We are facing that at every level of our interaction in the social world in India today. Since incomes are rising there is clearly a demand on the kinds of products and services each consumer wants for himself or herself,” said Gianetti.

Sunita Narain did acknowledge the fact that consumers couldn’t be stopped, but according to her, one couldn’t have “cheap and dirty motorisation either,” “The bigger point that we have been raising is the regulatory system and therefore my argument is not really with Mr Tata or with any other car manufacturer. My argument singularly is with the government. I think that the government has completely compromised with the regulations that should govern the car industry and have compromised them to such an extent that today it is creating trouble for the public,” said Narain.

Top 10 Fastest Cars in the World (2012)

10. Ascari A10
How fast?
215 mph

Tying with Italy’s Pagani Zonda F is a British masterpiece this time, the Ascari A10 speeding a stunning 215 mph. Its 625 hp 5.0 Liter BMW V8 S62 Engine can reach 60 mph in 2.8 seconds, faster than Ascari and yet a bit cheaper at $650,000. Weighing a massive 1,200 kg, you will love this car with its fixed rear wing and wide carbon fiber body far better than its predecessors. This astonishing yellow car with two parallel vertical lines at the center comes in 50 rare models in the market.

9. Jaguar XJ220
How fast?
217 mph

Who said that age is a measure of power? Produced way back in 1992 and the pride of Britain, the Jaguar XJ220 still proved to be a force to reckon with as it still belongs to the top 10 fastest cars in the world 2012, landing in the 9th spot at 217 mph, the fastest during its time.

Dashing a 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds with its 542 hp Twin Turbo V6 Engine visible at the rear window, the base price of this super car was $650,000 then, and has plummeted to $150,000 since 2009. With its sleek, flawless exterior, its design competes with that of its successors you wouldn’t even think it’s an invention 19 years back.

And with its predecessors being the fastest during their time (the Jaguar XK120 in 1949 and the Jaguar E-type S1 3.8 in 1961) having a record-holding lineage in its blood, no doubt this nearly 7 ft wide sought-after collectible car still got what it takes to be in the top 10 fastest cars in 2012.

9. Ferrari Enzo
How fast?
217 mph

Bearing the Ferrari brand may command popularity especially in the car racing world but Ferrari Enzo proves that racing isn’t just a name game. This 12 cylinder mid-engine berlinetta is an Italian invention conceived in 2002 and which production lasted until 2004. It can reach 60 mph in 3.4 seconds. Initially at $670,000, this car features an F140 Aluminum V12 Engine with 660 hp, and stylish exterior features including over-all body structure, headlights and tail lights. Its V-shaped hood and scooped-out butterfly doors make it more sophisticated. It now sells at $1,000,000.

9. Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster
How fast?
217 mph

Completing the top 9 roster is Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster. Its 678 hp yielding Twin Turbocharged AMG V12 engine can reach 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 217 mph.

Selling at $1,850,000, it is the 4th most expensive car in the world. Only five Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster were produced by the Italy-based manufacturer. Roofless, enjoy sheer driving pleasure as its carbon fiber made it even lighter for a more smoothing driving experience.

8. Gumpert Apollo
How fast?
224 mph

Give it up for Germany’s very own Gumpert Apollo which can dash 0-60 mph in 3 sec with its 650 hp 4.2 liter V8 Engine. Produced by Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur, this $450,000-worth sports car has two seats and gullwing doors that appear like wings spread and ready to fly.

And perhaps it’s true.

Its producer Gumpert said that the car is designed to drive upside-down in a tunnel provided it is driven at a speed over 190 mph. Although this has never been tested, this is one sure exhilarating stunt.

Who knows, it may just be waiting for you. Want to give it a try?

7. Noble M600
How fast?
225 mph

With its slender and contoured plain appearance, you would not think that there is something great with this stainless steel car, but boy, looks can be deceiving! Mind you this beast can dash 60 mph in 3.7 sec. It has a 650 hp twin-turbocharged 4.4 liter Yamaha V8 engine with the horsepower can be changed to either 450 or 550 depending on the driver.

Another British invention, the base price of this noble car is $330,000. It promises good manoeuvrability due to the power assisted rack and pinion steering wheel.

6. McLaren F1
How fast?
240 mph

Hailed in 1998 as the fastest road car of the 20th century, it boasts a 627 hp BMW S70/2 60 Degree V12 Engine capable of dashing 0-60 in 3.2 seconds. Produced in 1992 until 2002 in England, it made use of expensive materials like carbon, titanium, gold and for the first time, the use of carbon fiber monocoque chassis. It costs $970,000 and has butterfly doors that look like bat wings which could have replaced Batman’s batmobile. Bet he wouldn’t refuse as long as it’s for free.

5. Koenigsegg CCX
How fast?
245 mph

Named after its Swedish manufacturer, Koenigsegg, and the “Competition Coupe X’ which marks the producer’s 10th year anniversary, this sports car was officially unveiled in 2006.

It is powered by a 806 hp 90 Degree V8 Engine and can be bought at a steep price of $545,568.

It is the older brother of the Agera R, the newest in the brood released in 2011 thought to reach a speed of 275 mph though unverified.

The interiors are mainly designed of carbon fiber with leather seats, air conditioning system and the stylish dash board.

4. Saleen S7 Twin-Turbo
How fast?
248 mph

Finally, with all those European countries flaunting their prized masterpieces, it would really be all-too impossible to end this top 10 list of fastest car in the world without even a single shadow of an American invention.

At $555,000 each, the car is produced from 2005 to 2009 and is best for a smooth driving performance. It can reach 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds with its 750 hp 7.0 L Twin Turbo All Aluminum V8 Engine.

3. SSC Ultimate Aero
How fast?
257 mph

Another American invention that made it to the top three of the fastest cars in the world 2012 is the SSC Ultimate Aero, produced by Shelby SuperCars from 2006 until present.

This beast enjoyed a three-year ‘fastest car in the world’ reign as verified by the Guinness Book of World Record in 2007 after posting a whopping 257 mph speed. Powered by Twin-Turbo V8 Engine with 1183 hp, this car sells at $654,400.

2. Koenigsegg Agera R
How fast?
260 mph

Beware Veyron supporters for here comes the Veyron’s would-be slayer! Despite having a 5.0 L V8 Twin Turbo engine housing 1099 hp, which is 100 hp less powerful than the Super Sport, Agera is much lighter which allows it to speed at faster rate. It can be fitted with a Ski Box as well as winter tires and sells at $1,600,000.

Despite massive predicted top speed up to 270 mp or even greater, the current tested top speed is 260 mph, placing it on the 2nd spot. Good, sports car buffs would definitely love to see Agera put up a good fight with Veyron as it defend its title against its prospective arch enemy.

1. Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport
How fast?
268 mph – current world record holder
Revenge is sweet, indeed.

If land’s fastest animal is the cheetah, the racing world’s fastest car in the world now is the Bugatti Veyron EB 16.4 Super Sport version, a rear mid-engined sports car, reclaiming – and probably avenging – the title from previous record holder SSC Ultimate Aero TT (world’s fastest car in 2007) which dethroned Bugatti Veyron (world’s fastest car in 2005).

Speeding at 431.07 km/h (267.85 mph), it is almost four times faster than the black-spotted feline and almost 12 mph speedier than the former fastest production car in the world, with the 2010 Super Sport version enough to be branded as the 2010 (and remains undefeated until present) fastest road-legal car in the world as recorded and verified by the Guinness Book of World Record on a test done on July 10, 2010.

With the ‘fastest car in the world’ title in its helm, the price of this car costs sum of money that the millionaires can effortlessly afford – ranging from the base price of $1,700,000 up to $2,400,000, earning it also the ‘most expensive production car in the world’ title, hitting two birds in one stone. No wonder why the BBC television programme Top Gear hailed it as the Car of the Decade (2000–2009).

Powered by a Narrow Angle 8 Liter W16 Engine with 1200 hp, the car’s exterior and interior colors can be customized via the Veyron 16.4 Configurator application, adding style and uniqueness to the buyer’s individual preference aside from the comfort and adventure that this high performance and long distance driving capable luxury mobile can provide.

Named after French Grand Prix racing driver Pierre Veyron, who won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939 using a Bugatti Type 57, this world’s fastest car is designed and developed by the German Volkswagen Group and manufactured by Bugatti Automobiles SAS at their headquarters in Molsheim, France. Interestingly, the 16.4 in its name signifies the car’s 16 cylinder engine and 4 turbochargers.

You have one of the top 10 fastest cars in the world 2012. So what?

Indeed, nowadays, one may say that having a car – the fastest and the most extravagant cars in the world in this case – is no longer just considered luxury but at the same time a necessity.

Yet, we must remember that no matter how fast one’s car is, lack of maintenance and unruliness can take its toll on the car more than just any lengthy trip that a grand tourer like the top 10 fastest cars in the world are capable of.

And also, ranks are but numbers. Change being the only permanent thing in this world, trite as it may sound, rankings will joggle in the months or years to come. It’s not really a big deal whether you own the fastest car in the world or not. For as long as you enjoy the great adventure driving give you with whatever vehicle you have – no matter how old or plain it looks like, just as long as it could serve its ultimate purpose: taking you anywhere you want to go minus the commuting hassle that having none often implies – no amount of luxurious flashy cars or promising speed is going to matter. Never.
