The Highest Paid Young Actors in Movie

1. Saoirse Ronan

Ronan earned an Oscar nomination at age 13 for her breakthrough role as the nosy young playwright in 2007's 'Atonement.' Her net worth has been reported at $2.5 million, which seems low for an actress who had starring roles in 'The Lovely Bones' and 'Hanna.' The worldwide success of that assassin thriller, along with the four movies she has coming out over the next year or so (including one from 'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer), should make the 17-year-old Irish actress more in demand.

2. Selena Gomez

Gomez made just $65,000 for last year's movie 'Ramona and Beezus.' Still, she's one of the highest paid child stars on TV, earning $30,000 per episode for Disney's 'Wizards of Waverly Place.' Between her TV work, her recording career, her clothing line, and her film work, she's worth about $4 million. She starred in the romantic comedy 'Monte Carlo' this year, whose failure suggests she has a way to go before she's as bankable in movies as in other media. Still, with Justin Bieber for a boyfriend, the 19-year-old is not going to be keeping a low profile.

3. Chloe Moretz

Moretz has been earning acclaim for her acting talent since her role in the 2005 remake of 'The Amityville Horror' at age eight. She broke through to the mainstream in 2010 as pint-sized comic-book heroine Hit Girl in 'Kick-Ass' and young vampire Abby in 'Let Me In.' After her roles in those modestly-budgeted features, she has a reported net worth of $4 million. Her co-starring role in Martin Scorsese's upcoming 'Hugo' ought to boost the 14-year-old's price. In 2012, she'll star opposite Johnny Depp in Tim Burton's 'Dark Shadows.'

4. Keke Palmer

Palmer is better known as a TV star, for her lead role on Nickelodeon's 'True Jackson, VP,' but she's also done acclaimed work in movies (notably, in the starring role as the aspiring spelling champ in 2006's 'Akeelah and the Bee') and has three films due for release in 2012. She's one of the highest-paid child stars on TV, earning $20,000 per episode, and she also has her own True Jackson fashion line and a burgeoning music career. At 18, she's reportedly worth $7.5 million.

5. Jaden Smith

Smith made his debut at age 8 opposite papa Will in 'The Pursuit of Happyness,' but he held his own without any other Smiths in 'The Day the Earth Stood Still.' For 'The Karate Kid,' the then-10-year-old earned a $1 million salary, then picked up a $2 million bonus when the remake became a smash. Today, the 13-year-old is worth a reported $8 million, making him the highest-paid actor in his age range.

6. Abigail Breslin

The 'Little Miss Sunshine' star earns a reported $2 million a picture yet receives an allowance of just $11. She has been a star since she was five, ever since she played Mel Gibson's thirsty daughter in 2002's 'Signs.' She was one of the youngest actresses ever nominated for an Oscar when she earned a nod at age 10 for 'Sunshine.' Now 15, she is reportedly worth $12 million. For a week's work in December's ensemble romantic comedy 'New Year's Eve,' she earned $275,000.

7. Dakota Fanning

Widely regarded as the most talented and precocious star of her generation, Fanning seems to have spent a lifetime in movies already, even though she's just 17. Having made her breakthrough at age 7 by holding her own opposite Sean Penn in 2001's 'I Am Sam,' Fanning was an A-list actress who was earning $4 million a year by the time she was 12 (in 2006, the year she starred in 'Charlotte's Web'. It's not clear how much she's earning now, since she tends to alternate low-budget indie films with higher-profile hits like the 'Twilight' movies, but she's had major roles in 17 films that have earned $1.4 billion at the box office. Her net worth is a reported $16 million. Now that she's out of high school and has as many as six movies coming out in 2012, watch for her earnings to skyrocket. Oh, and watch out also for her sister, 13-year-old 'Super 8' star Elle Fanning, who may yet match her sister in star quality and earning power.

8. Taylor Lautner

Team Edward may have won the battle for Bella's heart, but Team Jacob raked in more bucks. Vanity Fair rated the 19-year-old Lautner the ninth biggest earner in Hollywood this year (Stewart was No. 13, Pattinson No. 15), with an estimated take of $33.5 million. That includes $25 million for the 'Breaking Dawn' two-parter, plus $7.5 million for his recent thriller 'Abduction' and another $1 million in royalties. Then again, 'Abduction' flopped at the box office, casting doubt on whether Lautner can succeed in roles other than hunky werewolf. Still, as long as he maintains his ab-tastic physique, he shouldn't have any trouble finding work.

9. Kristen Stewart

Born into a behind-the-camera showbiz family in Los Angeles, Stewart landed her first major role at age 11, playing Jodie Foster's daughter in the hit thriller 'Panic Room.' Throughout her teens, she continued to play dramatic roles in film and TV until, at age 17, she landed the coveted role of 'Twilight' heroine Bella. Like co-star Pattinson, she earned a reported $25 million this year for the two 'Breaking Dawn' movies, plus another $2.5 million for the forthcoming 'On the Road,' plus $1 million in royalties from the 'Twilight' films and other past projects. While the 'Twilight' stars have had trouble attracting large audiences (and large paychecks) away from the supernatural saga, Stewart, now 21, seems poised for another fantasy-romance hit with next summer's 'Snow White and the Huntsman,' which should allow her to keep earning a top-dollar salary.

10. Robert Pattinson

The London-born Pattinson, who started modeling at age 12, was 18 when he got his first big break in movies, playing the ill-fated Cedric Diggory in 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.' You know him better, of course, as sparkly-skinned vampire Edward Cullen in the 'Twilight' movies, which made him an A-list star when he was barely out of his teens. By the time he made the second 'Twilight' feature, 'New Moon,' in 2009, he was reportedly earning $18 million a year. This year, according to Vanity Fair, he earned $27.5 million - $25 million for the two-part 'Twilight' series capper, 'Breaking Dawn,' plus another $1.5 million for circus romance 'Water for Elephants' and $1 million or so for the upcoming period drama 'Bel Ami.' Pattinson's payday for the year could be even bigger than that, since he's also entitled to 7.5 percent of the 'Breaking Dawn' gross, as are co-stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner, which could amount to tens of millions more.

11. Emma Watson

By the time the 'Potter' pictures were wrapping, Vanity Fair reported that the 19-year-old Watson was the highest paid actress in Hollywood, earning $30 million a year between her wizarding duties and her fashion endorsements. The youngest of the three main 'Potter' players (she was 10 when she was cast as Hermione), Watson is said to be worth $50 million now. At 21, she's branching out beyond the Potterverse with a supporting role opposite her former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor Kenneth Branagh in this month's 'My Week with Marilyn.'

12. Rupert Grint

Grint was the first of the 'Harry Potter' principals to branch out into non-wizard roles, co-starring in 2002's 'Thunderpants' when he was 14. Like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, he saw his salary rise exponentially over the course of the 'Potter' series, to the point where he is now said to be worth $50 million at age 23. One famous indulgence his wealth has made possible: his own ice cream truck.

13. Daniel Radcliffe

Radcliffe conjured up just $250,000 for his debut at age 11 as the boy wizard in 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' a decade ago. By the time the series wrapped this year, he was earning as much as $25 million a picture. UK tabloids have reported his net worth to be somewhere between $37 and $80 million. Even at the low end, that makes the actor, now 22, richer than Princes William and Harry.

14. Miley Cyrus

Cyrus earned just $15,000 per episode of 'Hannah Montana,' but her recording income and merchandise royalties earned her $18 million a year by 2007, when she was 14. As her dual-identity fame was cresting in 2008, she earned $25 million and a place in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest-earning child star. Her income blew up to $48 million in 2009 (the year of 'Hannah Montana: The Movie') and $54 million in 2010 (including her salary for her starring role in the tearjerker 'The Last Song.') Now that her days as Hannah Montana are over, the 18-year-old still managed to earn $15 million this year, according to Forbes. That includes her fees for two upcoming movies, 'LOL' and 'So Undercover.' All told, she's worth $120 million.
